QIC merger announcement

The QIC Board has approved a plan to merge with its licensed providers Quality Management Services (QMS) and Quality Improvement and Community Services Accreditation Incorporated (QICSA), as well as Quality in Practice, a subsidiary of Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL), and form a new company - "Quality Innovation Performance Ltd ", which will become a subsidiary of AGPAL.

National health reform in Australia will result in the expansion of accreditation in the community and broader health care sectors; the combined strength resulting from this merger will ensure that QIC via Quality Innovation Performance will be well positioned to address these significant market trends.

The vision behind Quality Innovation Performance is the provision of streamlined, value adding accreditation services across the entire health and human services continuum from community services and primary care to secondary and tertiary health organisations.

Quality Innovation Performance (QIP) will provide assessment, accreditation and related services for all types of health and human service organisations including all the current services provided by each of Quality in Practice, QMS, QICSA and QIC. The QIC Standards and Accreditation Program will continue under the new structure. Changes to integrate the merging organisations have begun and will continue during 2013. This website will provide updates.

International accreditation

In 2012 the International Society for Quality Health Care (ISQua) accredited QIC, recognising that QIC has met its eight Organisation and Program standards. The award followed an extensive self assessment and the visit of an international survey team who assessed QIC and its licensed providers: IHCA, QICSA, QMS and Te Wana.

QIC Chair Prof Susan Dann said that the award recognises QIC's world standing as an accreditor of health and community services."QIC not only provides accreditation services of the highest quality, it also works hard with its partners to continuously improve that quality", Dr Dann said. The organisational award follows accreditation of QIC's standards in 2010. It is the second time ISQua has accredited QIC and its program. ISQua accreditation is for four years.
